Preventive dentistry is our goal for every patient. Daily dental hygiene (brushing and flossing), good nutrition (fruit instead of sweets), and periodic checkups all play a role in keeping teeth and gums healthy and strong. For our denture wearers, we also encourage denture checkups once a year. Preventive dentistry means fewer dental appointments and a more confident smile.
Periodontal Disease Mountain View
Most patients who visit our office have some degree of periodontal, or gum disease. It’s not that they’re less careful about their oral hygiene. Gum disease is often the result of factors like stress or hormonal changes. That’s why we go over your health history and the medications you’re taking. We take radiographic images to see if there is bone loss, measure movement in or around your teeth, and look for the bad types of bacteria in your mouth. Only then can we personalize a plan that gets treatment started as soon as possible. In our office, we use laser therapy to remove infected tissue and eliminate the bacteria causing the infection. Millions of people are at risk for periodontal disease, and it should be taken very seriously. Recent studies have shown that it can contribute to a higher risk of heart disease and other health problems. A periodontal assessment is always a good idea for all adults.
Lightwalker – Laser Dentistry Mountain View
One of the most exciting advances in dentistry is using dental lasers to fight gum disease. The Lightwalker dental Laser lets Drs. Lim and Lee target and deter gum disease at an earlier stage than ever before. It can also relieve the discomfort of canker sores, reduce bleeding, and eliminate the need for stitches. Most importantly, it makes every treatment far more comfortable for our patients. Surgeries previously requiring anesthetic now need little or none at all with the laser.
DIAGNOdent® Mountain View
Our office uses a new diagnostic laser system that provides an earlier and more dependable diagnosis of decay than old-fashioned probing. It’s non-invasive and very accurately records the presence and depth of a cavity. Because we can determine decay earlier than ever before, we can minimize the filling needed to solve the problem. And when it comes to cavity repair, less is always more: more tooth structure is preserved, more time and money is saved. Plus, we have a clearer picture of your ongoing dental health.
SOPROLIFE® Mountain View
SOPROLIFE® is a intraoral camera for observing the condition of hard dental tissues by fluorescence, used during diagnosis and treatment of decayed areas. Using this technology, we can take pictures and then you can see the conditions of your own teeth for yourself. SOPROLIFE® is intended for the clinical practice of general dentistry.
