3 Benefits of Getting Same-Day Crowns

3 Benefits of Getting Same-Day Crowns

Time is the one thing there never seems to be enough of, so finding ways to save time is always a top priority.

To that end, the team here at Peninsula Dental Excellence, led by Dr. Jeff Yoshihara and Dr. Colin Au, offers same-day dental crowns. Our ability to restore a tooth in just one visit has been a welcome service for so many of our clients and can be for you, too.Colin K Au, DDS - Mountain View

While the benefits of same-day CEREC crowns may seem obvious, we want to review three here so that you can see why this approach to tooth restoration is so popular.

1. Restoring your tooth in just one visit

Dental crowns are true workhorses in restorative dentistry — they protect and preserve teeth that have been damaged, and they can also act as anchors for prosthetic teeth, such as bridges and dentures.

One of the primary benefits of a dental crown is that the cap is custom-manufactured to fit in seamlessly with the rest of your teeth. To accomplish this, traditionally, we would take an impression and then send the information to a lab, where your crown was manufactured. Once the crown was returned to us, you would return to our office to have us install the restoration.

Today, we’re equipped with advanced computer-aided design and manufacturing technologies that allow us to take the impression and manufacture your crown on-site in just one visit.

While we truly enjoy seeing our patients, we can reduce your visits and save you valuable time with same-day crowns.

2. Using strong materials

Our on-site milling unit creates your dental crown out of ceramic, a tough material that not only stands up to chewing but offers the same coloring as your natural teeth. Ceramic also resists abrasion, so your restoration will look great for years to come.

While it depends on how well you care for your dental restoration, you can expect to enjoy your same-day crown for 5, 10, or more years.

3. Great accuracy

Since we’re able to do the design and manufacturing work for your dental crown right here in our offices, we can quickly make any tweaks or adjustments you might need. This ability to make instant corrections allows us to provide dental restorations that will excel in both form and function.

As you can see, same-day dental crowns allow us to complete your dental work and restore your smile in one simple visit without sacrificing quality.
