What Does a Smile Makeover Entail?

Your smile is your greeting card so you want to make sure you’re sending the right message. Unfortunately, if your smile is marred by broken, missing, or yellowing teeth, it can undermine your confidence and leave the wrong impression. Thankfully, the road to a winning grin isn’t all that difficult thanks to cosmetic dentistry.

At Peninsula Dental Excellence, our highly qualified and experienced dental team, led by Drs. Jeff Yoshihara and Colin Au, offers a wide range of smile makeover solutions that will have you smiling from ear to ear.

If you want to makeover your smile, here’s a look at what we can accomplish.

A smile makeover 101

To get straight to the question we pose about what a smile makeover entails, the short answer is: it depends. No two smiles are alike and your cosmetic concerns are unique to you. Whether your teeth are simply dull with age or you’re facing more serious aesthetic and functional issues, like missing teeth, we have the tools you need to achieve the smile of your dreams.

The first step in a smile makeover is to have us perform a full assessment so that we can lay out the options. This allows you to pick and choose the treatments that best meet your goals, your budget, and your timeline.

Go white and bright

One of the easiest steps toward a smile that dazzles is to whiten and brighten your teeth, which we can do in several ways.

If dull teeth are the primary problem, we offer professional teeth whitening services that whiten your teeth by several shades in very little time. For dramatic and immediate results, you can opt for our in-office whitening procedure. For more gradual results, you can choose a take-home kit.

If your teeth don’t respond to our whitening agents, you can turn to dental veneers, which are wafer-thin shells that we place over the fronts of your teeth in your “smile zone.”

Covering up

Another big concern when it comes to your smile may be teeth that are chipped, cracked, or spaced unevenly. To cover up these minor imperfections, we can use veneers (as we describe above) or dental bonding. With dental bonding, we apply a tooth-colored resin to your teeth that creates a smile full of teeth that appear to be healthy, straight, and whole.

If you have a tooth that’s severely cracked or has had considerable dental work, a dental crown provides both a cap to cover the damage and a shield to protect your tooth. We even offer same-day crowns, which help rehabilitate your smile in very little time.

Filling in the gap

If you're missing one tooth or several teeth, you face both cosmetic and functional issues. To remedy these problems, we offer dental implants and dental bridges

Dental implants are an ideal solution for single, missing teeth as the implant mimics your real tooth right down to the roots.

If you’re missing several teeth in a row, we may suggest a dental bridge, which, as the name implies, comes equipped with prosthetic teeth that bridge the gap.

Whatever your dental issues, we’re confident that we have the right tools to makeover your smile. To get started, contact our office in Mountain View, California.
